You vote for progressive politicians. You call/email/fax your elected officials often. You show up to marches and you bring super cool homemade signs demanding liberty and justice for all. You donate to your favorite organizations when you can. You hold the door for strangers. You love your community. People on the internet call you woke like it’s a bad thing. I’m proud of you! Truly.
“But what now?”
At home, at work, and everywhere in between, there are endless opportunities to give a damn. Yet most of us don’t have the physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental capacity to respond. There are always reasons why we can’t show up as our best damn-giving selves. Life is really difficult. There are far too many bills to pay. The kids are sick…again. You’re at odds with your colleagues at work. Or how about that voice in your head that won’t shut the hell up about how insignificant your singular voice actually is? And don’t even get us started on the toll social media is taking on our ability to give a damn in real life.
That’s exactly why we’ve created this cadre. Over the course of our 3 months together, we’ll work together to resource you with the tools you’ll need to become a much more effective community member, leader, and damn-giver.
BUT WHAT’S LET’S GIVE A DAMN?
I’ve got sad new and good news. The sad news? You’re going to die. The good news? There’s a whole lot of damn-giving to do while we live our “one wild and precious life.” (Rest in peace, Mary Oliver.)
Let’s Give A Damn is a multi-faceted organization that exists to help you do as much good as you possibly can why we’re here. Our main goal is to help you leave the planet much better than you found it.
Our role is to help each one of you hone in on exactly what it would mean for you—professionally, personally, mentally, spiritually, relationally—to give a damn and to actively work towards our collective liberation.

BUT WHAT THE HELL IS A CADRE?
According to Cambridge Dictionary, a cadre (/ˈkɑ:.drə/) is defined as “a small group of trained people who form the basic unit of a military, political, or business organization.” Another definition I’ve seen is “a cell of indoctrinated leaders active in promoting the interests of a revolutionary party.”
“Um, do you want to indoctrinate us?”
I get it. It’s a pretty intense word that comes with a lot of baggage. No, we don’t want to indoctrinate you. We do, however, want to saturate your hearts and minds with the belief that we can change the world together while fostering an environment that encourages free thinking about what this change can and should look like.
Our hope is that this those that those of y’all that join this cadre will—individually and together—work toward collective liberation for all people through our work, our play, and through all that we do.

WHAT’LL WE DO TOGETHER?
🥑 A chef needs tools so they can feed the hungry.
❤️🩹 A doctor needs tools so they can heal the sick.
🎹 A musician needs tools so they can make music.
✊🏼 In the same way, people who give a damn need tools so they can show up as the fullest expression of themselves in collective liberation, and leave the planet better than they found it.
These are the tools we’ll be working with to prepare you for a lifetime of giving a damn:
✅ Each week, we’ll gather on Zoom as a group to listen to a short talk from Nick Laparra, engage in a Q&A with a very special guest, and dialogue for a bit with other members of the cadre. We’ll cover a different topic every time we meet. These digital gatherings will take place every Wednesday* from 8-9:30pm ET. The recordings will be sent to you afterward in case you can’t be there for the live gathering.
✅ Each week, we’ll give you some optional homework—articles to read, podcasts to listen to, videos to watch, quotes to ponder, and more.
✅ For multiple time slots throughout each week, I’ll be available via email and text to answer your questions, wrestle through ideas with you, and dream together.
✅ Each member of the cohort will be invited to book a 30-minute one-on-one coaching call with me at some point during our time together.
✅ The whole cadre will be invited to join a private Slack channel dedicated to daily and ongoing conversations with each other. This is your space to dream and grow together.
✅ We’re family now. Anytime you’re in New York City, hit me up so we can attempt to meet for a drink of your choice. First round is on me! If you live in New York City, let’s meet up sooner rather than later.

Nick Laparra is the founder of Let’s Give A Damn — a multifaceted company that helps people leave the planet much better than they found it. He is the son of a Guatemalan immigrant, he grew up in Guatemala, and has visited and worked in over 30 countries engaging in various kinds of social impact work.
At his core, Nick is a passionate storyteller who doesn’t mince words or suggest band-aid fixes for life or death issues. Nick has interviewed some of the most well-known people in the world, he has spoken on stages all over the world, he has consulted with Fortune 500 companies, and he is eager to help guide those participating in this cadre toward living more meaningful lives.
